Giving the Stage Wings and Creating Lasting Visual Memories | 360 Inflatable Creates Custom Airtight Feather Wings for Mayday F4’s City of Stars Concert

Large-Scale Inflatable Feather Wings for Mayday F4’s City of Stars Concert | A Stage Visual Installation Case Study

Large white and pink airtight inflatable feather wings custom-made by 360 Inflatable, suspended above the stage at Mayday F4’s City of Stars concert, surrounded by LED screens and stage lighting.

As the stage lights illuminate the arena, music, giant LED screens, and thousands of spectators come together to create an immersive live performance. Suspended above the stage, a pair of large white and pink feathered wings unfolds against the deep blue and purple lighting, adding a romantic, dreamlike atmosphere and a striking visual dimension to the entire performance.

These wings were not ordinary stage decorations. They were custom-made airtight inflatable feather wings produced by Wenzhou 360 Inflatable Co., Ltd. for Mayday F4’s City of Stars concert.

As a trusted inflatable production partner for live concert and stage installation projects, 360 Inflatable focused on translating the concert’s creative vision into a three-dimensional installation that could integrate naturally into the live performance environment. From interpreting the design concept and refining the product structure to manufacturing and delivery, every stage of the project was approached with the final on-site presentation in mind.

For a large-scale concert, an impressive stage design is about more than simply placing a decorative object onstage. It is about integrating the installation with music, lighting, and the overall stage composition to create a memorable visual experience for the audience.

1. From Creative Concept to Live Stage: Turning a Pair of Wings into a Signature Visual Element

A concert stage is a highly coordinated visual environment.

Giant LED screens display performance footage, lighting establishes the atmosphere, and stage equipment and performer movement all influence how the space is arranged. An effective stage installation must not only have a distinctive visual identity but also complement the other elements of the production.

For Mayday F4’s City of Stars concert, 360 Inflatable created a pair of large inflatable feather wings. The layered feather design gives the wings a full, dimensional appearance while maintaining the soft, flowing visual quality associated with natural feathers.

In the live concert setting, the white and pink wings are suspended above the stage, creating a striking visual relationship with the performance area below, the giant screens above, and the lighting throughout the arena.

Unlike decorative installations placed directly on the floor, suspended wings make use of the stage’s vertical space. They expand the visual composition without relying solely on floor-level structures. Whether viewed from a distance in the arena or through the live camera feed on the screens, the wings contribute to a stronger sense of depth and scale.

For 360 Inflatable, the challenge was not simply to manufacture a pair of white and pink wings. It was to create an installation that could deliver the intended shape, proportions, and visual impact in a real concert environment.

2. Large Suspended Inflatables: The Challenge Goes Beyond Manufacturing

Large-scale concert productions require a different level of planning from ordinary commercial decorations.

Even when a product has been manufactured successfully in the workshop, that does not automatically guarantee the desired appearance onstage. For a large installation suspended above the performers, the final result depends on the product structure, suspension arrangements, venue conditions, and coordination with other stage systems.

For this pair of feather wings, several important considerations had to be addressed.

2.1 Balancing Product Dimensions with the Stage Environment

According to the project specifications, the wings measure 5 meters wide and 7 meters high.

At this scale, the installation becomes a prominent visual element rather than a small decorative accessory. It must be noticeable within a large venue while remaining visually compatible with the surrounding stage design.

For the concert organizer, an important consideration was how to make the installation stand out without creating visual conflicts with the LED screens, lighting equipment, or performers.

The design and manufacturing process therefore needed to consider not only the appearance of the wings as individual products but also their proportions and intended use within the larger stage environment.

360 Inflatable focused on the overall silhouette, feather layering, and product dimensions to create a visually substantial installation that retained the soft, lightweight appearance of feathered wings.

The final stage photograph shows how the wings establish a clear visual connection between the upper and lower portions of the stage. Their contrasting colors also help distinguish them within the complex lighting and screen environment.

2.2 Coordinating Suspension Requirements with On-Site Installation

Manufacturing determines what an installation looks like. Suspension and installation planning determine whether it can be positioned and presented as intended.

For large inflatable wings suspended above a stage, the installation plan may need to account for rigging-point locations, connection methods, rope routing, the product’s center of gravity, and the relative positioning of the two wings. The installation must also be coordinated with the venue’s approved rigging system and other stage equipment.

The project specifications included approximately 40 meters of rope and one support bracket. The actual use of these accessories must be coordinated with the venue’s technical team and the approved installation plan, taking into account confirmed rigging-point capacities and applicable safety requirements.

The real challenge of a large suspended inflatable is ensuring that the design, positioning, and site conditions work together.

If only the product itself is considered while the installation environment is overlooked, problems may arise, including incorrect positioning, visual imbalance between the wings, obstruction of screen content, or interference with the overall stage composition.

For this reason, 360 Inflatable considers not only the condition of the product when it leaves the factory but also how it can be coordinated with the stage technical team to achieve the intended positioning and presentation.

For installations of this kind, manufacturing and on-site installation planning are not entirely separate tasks. They are interconnected parts of a process focused on achieving one consistent visual result.

2.3 Creating Dimensional Feather Details Without Losing the Overall Shape

Large inflatables face a practical challenge: their silhouettes must remain recognizable from a considerable distance, while their details must still look convincing in close-up photography and camera footage.

The layered feather design of these wings addresses this balance between overall form and surface detail.

Rather than appearing as two flat blocks of color, the wings feature overlapping feather elements that create a dimensional, textured appearance and a distinctive feathered silhouette.

During manufacturing, this type of product requires careful attention to the transitions between sections, overall proportions, and consistency of the finished shape. For large wing structures, the internal construction and fan configuration must also be considered in accordance with the product’s specific requirements.

360 Inflatable’s role in projects of this kind is to turn a visual concept into a practical product that can be manufactured, transported, and coordinated with on-site installation requirements—not simply to reproduce an image or concept rendering.

3. From Product Delivery to On-Site Presentation: How 360 Inflatable Addresses Real Project Needs

For organizers of large-scale concerts, selecting an inflatable production partner involves much more than comparing prices and appearances.

The organizer must also consider whether the product can be manufactured to the required specifications, whether the final shape meets expectations, whether the fan and accessory configurations are appropriate, and whether the product can be coordinated with the stage team's installation arrangements.

360 Inflatable approaches project collaboration with these practical requirements in mind.

Project Highlight 1: Designing for the Stage, Not Just for the Product

The value of a large stage installation lies in how it integrates into the live environment and supports the intended creative expression.

For this project, the feather wings served as the central visual element. Their overall silhouette, layered feather details, and visibility within a large arena were important considerations in the design and manufacturing process.

The result was an installation designed to complement the stage composition rather than function as an isolated decorative object.

Project Highlight 2: Considering Suspension Requirements as Part of the Installation Process

A large suspended inflatable cannot simply be lifted into place without proper planning.

Rope routing, support arrangements, installation height, product orientation, and the relationship with surrounding stage equipment all need to be assessed against the actual site conditions.

360 Inflatable considers the product’s characteristics and the corresponding installation requirements when developing the relevant product and accessory arrangements, providing a practical basis for subsequent coordination with the stage technical team.

Project Highlight 3: Thinking Beyond Manufacturing to Support Project Execution

For a concert production, the product must serve the performance—not force the production team to work around a product that does not suit the environment.

Clear communication about product dimensions, fan configuration, suspension requirements, and intended use helps the organizer coordinate manufacturing, transportation, and stage installation more effectively.

By considering these requirements together, 360 Inflatable helps bridge the gap between product manufacturing and the practical demands of live event production.

4. An Interesting Detail: Two Wings Creating a Visual Connection Above the Stage

One particularly appealing detail of this project is the visual relationship between the white and pink wings.

Viewed individually on the ground, the wings might initially be appreciated for their feather textures, surface details, and overall appearance. Once suspended above a large concert stage, however, the way audiences perceive them changes.

From a distance, viewers first notice the overall silhouette of the wings. Their attention then shifts to the contrast between the white and pink colors and the atmosphere created by the feathered forms interacting with the stage lighting.

The two wings therefore become more than separate products. Together, they form a coordinated visual installation that complements the performance environment.

This is one of the defining characteristics of large inflatable sculptures compared with ordinary decorative products: their visual impact depends not only on the objects themselves but also on where they are positioned, how audiences view them, and how they interact with the surrounding space.

For 360 Inflatable, this is an important part of the project’s value. Understanding the product’s appearance is essential, but understanding the environment in which it will be used is equally important.

Once an inflatable leaves the workshop and enters the live performance environment, it begins to fulfill its intended role as a stage visual installation.

5. Building Trust Through Collaboration: A Reliable Inflatable Partner for Concert Productions

Large-scale concert productions involve many interconnected tasks. An inflatable installation may be only one part of the overall production, yet it must work in harmony with the entire stage environment.

For concert organizers, a reliable partner should offer more than quotations and manufacturing services. The partner should understand the intended application, consider practical installation conditions, and maintain effective communication throughout design development, production, and delivery.

360 Inflatable’s approach to this project reflects the value of collaboration centered on the final result.

Different concert themes, product dimensions, and installation environments require different solutions. An inflatable production partner must connect creative interpretation, product structure, manufacturing techniques, and on-site requirements into a coordinated workflow.

This is particularly important for large suspended installations, where each stage of the process can influence the final presentation.

From the 5-meter-wide, 7-meter-high feathered wing design to the corresponding fan configuration and installation accessories, every consideration serves the same objective: helping the creative concept become an integral part of the stage.

At 360 Inflatable, we value the trust and collaboration we build with our project partners. Our goal is to deliver more than an inflatable product—we aim to provide a practical solution that addresses real-world requirements and supports successful on-site execution.

When the white and pink wings unfold above the stage, the audience sees the emotion and visual impact of the performance. Behind that moment is the coordination of design, structural development, manufacturing, accessories, and installation planning.

That is also why 360 Inflatable continues to focus on inflatable stage installations and large-scale inflatable sculptures for concerts and live events: helping creative ideas move beyond the concept stage and become part of a real performance experience.
